Supporting Student Well-Being, Safety, and Success
The CARE Team at 九色视频 provides a centralized, proactive approach to identifying and supporting students who may be experiencing challenges. Through collaboration and care, we connect students to resources that promote well-being, belonging, and academic success.
Please request a CARE request for a student if you are:
Concerned for
their wellbeing
(nonemergency)
Observing
distressed
behavior
Noticing a change in a student鈥檚 typical behavior or engagement
Request a CARE Referral
This form is intended for faculty, staff, and community members to refer students who may benefit from additional support.
Distressed behavior refers to actions or changes that are outside of a student鈥檚 typical baseline and may indicate emotional or personal challenges. These behaviors may not be disruptive but can signal that a student needs support.
Examples may include:
- Appearing unusually nervous, anxious, or overwhelmed
- Persistent sadness, crying, or signs of depression
- Difficulty concentrating or staying engaged
- Withdrawal from class or activities
- Appearing disoriented, 鈥渟paced out,鈥 or unusually fatigued
- Noticeable changes in appearance (e.g., disheveled or unkempt)
CARE referrals are received and reviewed by the HSI Social Justice Grant Director. Information may be shared with CARE Team members on a need-to-know basis to ensure the student is connected to appropriate services and resources.
All information is handled with care and respect for student privacy.
Submit a CARE referral when you notice changes in a student鈥檚 behavior, well-being, or circumstances that raise concern and may be impacting their ability to succeed. You do not need to be certain or have proof. If something feels concerning, it is appropriate to submit a CARE referral.
You should request a referral if a student is:
- Showing signs of emotional distress or changes in their mental well-being
- Experiencing academic challenges connected to personal circumstances
- Needing support with food, housing, transportation, finances, or other basic needs
- Showing noticeable changes in behavior, attendance, engagement, or academic performance
- Experiencing a medical or health concern that may be affecting their well-being or participation
- Navigating a significant life event, loss, family situation, caregiving responsibility, displacement, or relationship concern
- Communicating or behaving in ways that raise concern for their well-being or the well-being of others
- At risk of physical harm or unsafe conditions,聽with NO immediate danger to themselves or others
- Asking for help or support connecting to resources
When in doubt, it is okay to submit a referral鈥攖he CARE Team will assess and determine next steps.
A CARE referral may not be appropriate if:
- If there is immediate danger or risk of harm
- 颁补濒濒鈥911鈥痮r Campus Police immediately
- The concern is solely related to routine academic performance (e.g., grades only, no additional concerns)
- The issue can be resolved through direct communication or standard classroom processes
- You are seeking immediate disciplinary action (refer to Student Conduct processes instead)
